About Fastnachtsumzug Hardheim
Fastnachtsumzug Hardheim — edition 2026
Fastnacht Sunday, February 15, 2026
On Fastnacht Sunday 2026, Hardheim will become a 'party planet': the Faschingsgesellschaft Hordemer Wölf e.V. is organizing the grand Fastnacht parade, which will start punctually at 2:11 PM in the city center and end at Schlossplatz after a route through the historic city center. Over 80 parade entries from all over the Franconian Odenwald and Tauberfranken are participating.
The motto for 2026 is '30 driving in the whole town, even the beaver moves faster' — a humorous allusion to the German speed limit 30 discussion. After the parade, Schlossplatz transforms into a Fastnacht party planet with a bar over 40 meters long, a light show at dusk, and live music until late into the evening.

Fastnacht Sunday in the Erftal Valley
Hardheim, a community of 6,000 inhabitants in the Franconian-influenced Odenwald (Neckar-Odenwald district), celebrates one of Baden-Württemberg's most vibrant Fastnacht traditions. On Fastnacht Sunday, February 15, 2026, the grand Fastnacht parade of the Faschingsgesellschaft Hordemer Wölf e.V. will march through the city center precisely at 2:11 PM. Several thousand visitors from the Odenwald, the Maintal valley, Tauberfranken, and the Palatinate flock to Hardheim to experience one of the region's largest Fastnacht events.
80 Parade Entries and Regional Music Bands
With over 80 parade entries from Hardheim and the entire region — including Fränkische Herolde from Unterschüpf, Musikkapelle Külsheim, Umpferpfortzer from Boxberg, the folk music band from Höpfingen, the Musikverein Schweinberg, and many others — the Hardheim parade is one of the largest in Southern Germany in terms of entries. The motto for 2026 is '30 driving in the whole town, even the beaver moves faster' — a self-ironic nod to the speed limit 30 discussion in German city centers.
Open-Air Party at Schlossplatz
The parade ends at Schlossplatz, against the historic backdrop of Hardheim's center. Here, the Hordemer Wölf transform the square into a Fastnacht party planet: a bar over 40 meters long stretches across Schlossplatz, several food and drink stands provide refreshments, and as dusk falls, the grand light show begins as the day's highlight. Live music and a DJ program will keep the party going late into the evening.
Hardheim, the Erftal Valley, and Franconian Fastnacht
Hardheim is located in the Franconian Odenwald on the Erfa, a tributary of the Main river, and belongs to the Neckar-Odenwald district. The region is part of the Franconian-Swabian Fastnacht — a distinct tradition that differs significantly from the Rhenish carnival culture: here, historical masks, bells, 'wolves,' and other animal motifs dominate, as well as a style of shouting 'Narrenruf' that is closer to Alemannic customs. The Hordemer Wölf are among the traditional carnival societies in the region and play a decisive role in shaping Hardheim's festival calendar.
