Bavarian Volksfest in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district
The Oktoberfest may have been born in the south, but the concept has long since taken root in the far north. Nindorf, a community of around 1,500 inhabitants in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district of Schleswig-Holstein, has been hosting one of the larger North German Oktoberfests on its forest festival grounds for years. The concept is consistently Bavarian: a large heated marquee with a solid floor, table service, Allgäu brass band music, pork knuckle, and 'Leberkäs'.
The musical anchor of the festival is the Obermindeltaler Musikanten-Verband from Willofs in the Allgäu region — over 40 musicians who create the typical 'Wiesn' atmosphere with their relaxed brass music. They play on Saturday evening as well as during the Sunday 'Frühschoppen' starting at 11:00 AM, covering the entire repertoire from folk music to Schlager hits.
Culinary offerings are consistently Bavarian: pork knuckle, roast chicken, Bavarian Leberkäs, accompanied by frothy Maß (liter) steins of beer. A 'Kombi-Ticket' offers a half-liter beer combined with a main course. Table reservations are possible (€20 per table) — highly recommended for a marquee seating several hundred guests.
The festival is designed for arrival by bus: Ubben-Reisen organizes shuttle buses from surrounding communities, which aligns with the 'Wiesn' concept — celebrating well without a car. The marquee itself is also geared towards Bavarian standards: a solid floor instead of grass, heated for September, and table service.
The 2026 edition continues the proven concept: a large heated marquee with a solid floor, table service, a Bavarian food concept, and live music by the Obermindeltaler Musikanten. The festival starts on Saturday evening, and Sunday opens with the traditional Frühschoppen.
By car via the A23 (Hamburg–Heide). By bus from Ubben-Reisen from surrounding communities — timetables and reservations via the organizers.
Single ticket €28 / Combo ticket (½-liter beer + main course) €23 / Sunday Frühschoppen €7 / Table reservation €20 per table. Advance sales start February 21, 2026. Combo ticket in advance sales until March 31, 2026, for €21.
Lederhosen and Dirndl are welcome — the dress code is Bavarian.
