The Vogelschießen is a North German traditional event where participants symbolically shoot at a wooden bird with air or small-caliber rifles. In Nindorf, the Vogelschießen is organized as a summer festival for the village community — a social event with catering, family entertainment, and the crowning of the new bird shooting king or queen.

Shooting week of the municipality

The 2026 Vogelschießen is embedded in the shooting week of the municipality of Nindorf — a festive week that celebrates shooting tradition with various club events. The season begins with the Anschießen on May 10, 2026, followed by the welcoming of the shooting monarchs at the shooting range on May 14. The highlight of the festive week is the Schützenfest on May 16, with a parade at 10:45 AM and a grand shooting ball at the Dörpshuus with Kapelle Popp. The Vogelschießen on June 20 concludes the club activities of early summer.

The Vogelschießen is designed as a relaxed Saturday:

• 10:00 AM — Setup at the Dörpshuus by the club members
• 1:00 PM — Start of the bird shooting
• Catering by the shooting club — coffee and cake in the afternoon, barbecue stand in the evening
• Crowning of the new Vogelschießen king/queen
• Wind-down at the Dörpshuus with music

Dörpshuus — the village center

The Dörpshuus is Nindorf's central event venue and the seat of the shooting club. The meeting place with a hall, outdoor area, and shooting range is the heart of the club's activities and is used for regular training as well as larger festive events.
