Operetta at the Castle
The Operetta Evening at Wernberg Castle is a highlight in the cultural calendar of the market town of Wernberg-Köblitz in the district of Schwandorf, Oberpfalz, Bavaria. The traditional Whitsun concert takes place in the so-called 'Gedankengebäude' of the historic Wernberg Castle, combining classical operetta art with the atmospheric ambiance of the medieval complex.
The Artists
Highlights from the operetta repertoire will be performed by the Czech soprano Miriam Čížková and the pianist Štěpán Slavík. Čížková was engaged at the J.K. Tyl Theatre in Pilsen from 1988 to 2000 and is a prize winner of the International Franz Lehár Singing Competition in Komárno.

Works by Franz Lehár, Rudolf Friml, Johann Strauss, Nico Dostal, Emmerich Kálmán, and other composers of the golden and silver operetta eras will be performed – a sonorous cross-section of the genre's most popular melodies.

The Wernberg Castle team welcomes guests with a seasonal fruit cocktail and seasonal appetizers from Robert Morgan's kitchen, which are already included in the admission price. The organizer is the Kulturforum Wernberg-Köblitz e.V., which cultivates the cultural tradition of the Oberpfalz community with this concert.

On Whit Monday, May 25, 2026, at 3 PM, the Kulturforum Wernberg-Köblitz invites you to the Operetta Evening in the 'Gedankengebäude' of Wernberg Castle.
Soprano Miriam Čížková and pianist Štěpán Slavík will interpret highlights from the operetta repertoire of Lehár, Friml, Johann Strauss, Dostal, and Kálmán. Guests will be welcomed with a seasonal fruit cocktail and appetizers from Robert Morgan's kitchen, which are included in the admission price.

Wernberg-Köblitz is located on the A6 and A93 motorways in the Oberpfalz region. Wernberg Castle towers above the town and is accessible from there.
