A Town Festival with Tradition
The Bürgerfest Pfreimd is the central town festival of the town of Pfreimd in the district of Schwandorf in the Upper Palatinate, Free State of Bavaria. On the second weekend of July, the town of Pfreimd and local clubs jointly organize a colorful program. The market square, castle courtyard, and castle garden transform into a contiguous festival zone with music, food, and shared festive joy.
Festive Kick-off on Saturday
Saturday begins with a ceremonial procession of the marksmen and a proclamation of the king. The Pfreimd town band plays Bohemian-Bavarian entertainment music, complemented by performances from the music school. Food stands offer bratwurst, steaks, and game goulash, as well as drinks.
Sunday with a Celebratory Service and Children's Program
Sunday starts with a festive church service, musically accompanied by the town band. This is followed by a morning pint concert and a traditional lunch with hearty specialties. In the afternoon, youth orchestras and the music school perform, and there is a puppet show for children. The event concludes with a band performance in the early evening.
Program for All Ages
Around the market square, there are game stalls, a book flea market, a bric-a-brac market, presentations by the Bundeswehr with fitness challenges, laser shooting, and wagon rides – entertainment for young and old. The Bürgerfest is a celebration of community and a fixed date in the event calendar of the town of Pfreimd.

Getting There
Pfreimd is located in the district of Schwandorf in the Upper Palatinate, directly on the A93 motorway (Pfreimd exit) and on the Regensburg–Weiden railway line (Pfreimd station). The festival zone extends around the market square, castle courtyard, and castle garden in the town center.
Admission
Admission to the Bürgerfest is free. Food and drinks at the stands are subject to a charge.
