Sommer am See — the concert series in the Eifel community
The concert series Sommer am See Blankenheim is one of the most beautiful small summer open-air formats in the Nordeifel. On four Thursdays in July 2026, the idyllic Weiheranlage in Blankenheim transforms into a relaxed open-air stage: live bands, family program, kindergarten children performing, and catering — all with free admission.
Four Thursdays, four themes
Each concert Thursday has its own character:
- Thursday, July 9, 2026 — "O'zapft is!": Bavarian Wiesn evening with Alpentrio Colonia. Children's accompanying program from Kindergarten Mülheim.
- Thursday, July 16, 2026 — "Der Klassiker": Classic Schlager and German hits with FDH & Bums. Accompanying program Kindergarten Hülchrath.
- Thursday, July 23, 2026 — "Rock am Weiher": Rock evening with the cover band Männer von Flake (Rammstein and classic rock repertoire). Accompanying program Waldkindergarten Mülheim.
- Thursday, July 30, 2026 — "Kölsche Ovend": Kölsch classics and Kölsch Karneval sound with KERK UND BAEND. Accompanying program Heinrichshof.
Family concept and kindergarten participation
A special feature of the series is the active involvement of local kindergartens: Every Thursday, a kindergarten performs with its own program (songs, small theater) before the main band begins. This integration strengthens the connection to the local community and creates a family atmosphere.
Extension in August at Freilinger See
The format continues in August at the neighboring Freilinger See — with two more concert evenings (06.08. "Bella Italia" with Rocco & Francesco, 13.08. "Eefeler Tön" with Wibbelstetz). Those who attend all six dates will experience a diverse spectrum from Bavarian to Rock to Kölsch and Italian.
Blankenheim — the historic castle town of the Nordeifel
Blankenheim (around 8,000 inhabitants) is a small but tourism-relevant community in the Kreis Euskirchen district in the Nordeifel region. The town is dominated by Burg Blankenheim from the 12th century (now a youth hostel) and is located in the Ahrtal valley, in close proximity to the Ahr spring. The Weiheranlage on the outskirts is a well-kept park with a pond — an ideal setting for summer open-air concerts.
