About Inclusive City Run

The 3rd Inclusive City Run Delmenhorst on May 10, 2026, is a sporting event with a clear message: Running connects – across all differences. People with and without disabilities start together and complete the routes through Delmenhorst's city center. Four distances are available: 888 m for children, 1 mile for pupils, 5 km, and 10 km. Over 600 runners from Delmenhorst and the region are expected. The organizer is the Förderverein Wohnen Lebenshilfe Delmenhorst e.V., the courses are measured according to DLV standards and are flat. The patron is the 1992 Olympic champion over 5,000 meters, Dieter Baumann – a choice that underscores the sporting level as well as the inclusive idea.

Inclusion through Sport

The Delmenhorst City Run is more than a sporting competition. With the concept of an inclusive run, the organizer sends a clear signal for the self-evident participation of people with disabilities in social life. Sport here becomes the connecting element between people of the most diverse backgrounds.

Four Distances for Everyone

The selection of routes ensures that everyone finds a suitable distance:

  • 888 m Children's Run: for the youngest participants, a playful introduction to running.
  • 1 Mile Pupil's Run: for pupils, a motivating distance for young people.
  • 5 km: for recreational runners and ambitious hobby runners.
  • 10 km: for athletic and competition-oriented runners.

DLV-Measured and Flat

The course is measured according to the specifications of the German Athletics Federation (DLV). The predominantly flat course through Delmenhorst's city center is well-suited for personal best times.

Förderverein Wohnen Lebenshilfe

The Förderverein Wohnen Lebenshilfe Delmenhorst e.V. supports housing projects and services for people with disabilities. The City Run is one of its largest public events and combines sport, inclusion, and fundraising.

Patron Dieter Baumann

With Dieter Baumann, the 1992 Olympic champion over 5,000 meters, the association has gained a prominent and credible voice for the event. Baumann is active as a promoter of athletics and a committed ambassador for sporting values beyond his competitive career.
