Europa-Park: Germany's Largest Theme Park in Winter

Europa-Park Rust is Germany's largest theme park and, with over 6 million visitors annually, one of Europe's most successful amusement parks. It is located in Rust in the Ortenau district (state of Baden-Württemberg), on the border between Germany and France, just a few kilometers from the Rhine and Alsace. The park is owned by the Mack family, a South German showman dynasty that has been active in the industry since the 18th century.

Winter Magic — The Transformation

Unlike many other theme parks, Europa-Park does not close for the winter. Instead, it transforms into a spectacular winter landscape from late November to mid-January:

  • Large Christmas Market with regional decorations from the 18 European themed areas
  • Ice Rink with skate rental
  • Bellevue Ferris Wheel for views over the winter park landscape
  • Snowkids Ski School (FIS Snowkidz) — Children learn to ski on the practice slope
  • Over 100 themed attractions, many of them in the France, Italy, and Scandinavia areas, decorated for winter
  • VR Experiences — YULLBE GO, Alpenexpress Coastiality, Eurosat Coastiality
  • Monaco Exhibition with elegance, motorsport, and Monegasque flair

Shows and Productions

Up to 23 hours of programming daily (closed Dec 24/25):

  • Ice Arena — Several ice shows per day
  • Globe Theatre — Stage shows
  • Europa-Park Teatro — Performances
  • Eurosat Mapping Show — Spectacular projections on the Eurosat dome

Over 50 Restaurants

Europa-Park boasts one of the largest gastronomy collections of any theme park worldwide: over 50 restaurants, bistros, and snack bars offering cuisine from the 18 European themed areas. In winter, there are special seasonal menus – from mulled wine and Christmas cookies to hearty winter dishes and fondue.

Hotel Offer and Extended Access

Europa-Park has six themed hotels (Colosseo, Bell Rock, Castillo Alcázar, El Andaluz, Krønasår, Santa Isabel) and a camping resort. Hotel guests have access to the following benefits:

  • Extended park access until January 10, 2027 (beyond the official season)
  • Early park entry in the morning
  • Best Price Guarantee
  • Themed hotel experiences

Admission and Tickets

Day tickets start at €56.50. Overnight packages with Best Price Guarantee and early park entry. Weekend tickets sell out particularly quickly in winter – early booking recommended.

Rust and the Region

Rust (~4,000 inhabitants) is located in the southern Black Forest foothills on the border with Alsace. Europa-Park is by far the largest employer in the region and a tourist magnet that shapes the entire Ortenau area. Those wishing to extend their winter visit will find numerous other attractions in the region: nearby Strasbourg in Alsace, the Black Forest, Baden-Baden with its thermal baths, or Freiburg.
