47th edition of the traditional city festival in Neunkirchen's city centre with two stages
In 2026, the Neunkirchen City Festival celebrates its 47th edition. From Friday, June 26th, to Saturday, June 27th, 2026, the city centre of the municipality of Neunkirchen in Siegerland (not to be confused with the similarly named Neunkirchen in Saarland) transforms into a two-day festival mile. Organised by the municipality of Neunkirchen and nk-kultur, the festival has been a firm fixture in the region's summer calendar since the late 1970s.
The geographical division is the programme: Stummplatz hosts the bigger, more party-oriented acts; Bliesterrassen is the second, slightly more family-friendly stage. This allows visitors to switch between the two locations and create their own festival programme.
On Friday evening, June 26th, the Stummplatz stage features Brass Machine (Brass Band) and several Cover Bands—a solid open-air programme for a mixed audience. In parallel, the Bliesterrassen hosts a Fire Show, followed by live bands. On Saturday, June 27th, the focus shifts: Stummplatz presents a Laser Show as a visual highlight, while the Bliesterrassen features Old Rock Bands from Neunkirchen (revival acts)—a deliberate homage to the regional music scene of past decades.
Both days are family-oriented during the daytime: a children's programme with activities, games, and hands-on offers accompanies the stage programme. Bouncy castles, face painting, and small craft stations are spread across the festival grounds.
The Siegerland is the South Westphalian mountain region around the city of Siegen, geographically characterised by dense forests and narrow valleys. The climate is cooler than in the Rhineland, and the mentality is distinctly Westphalian. The municipality of Neunkirchen (Siegen-Wittgenstein district) is located in the heart of this mountain ridge and has established itself as an industrial and residential location with around 14,000 inhabitants.
Within the Siegen-Wittgenstein district, the Neunkirchen City Festival is one of the three largest city/municipal festivals—alongside the Siegen City Festival and the Wittgenstein Summer. For those holidaying in Siegerland or wanting to get to know the region, the City Festival offers an authentic glimpse into the local festival culture.
The 47th edition splits the programme between Stummplatz and Bliesterrassen—a proven division in Neunkirchen. Friday evening kicks off the festival mile with cover bands, while Saturday culminates the programme with a laser show and revival bands from Neunkirchen's music scene.
