Fifth edition of the district festival with football tournament, family games, and live music at the Herkules Arena Kaan-Marienborn
Sometimes the best summer festivals aren't mega open-airs, but those where the whole village comes together. The 5th Kääner Sommer in Siegen-Kaan-Marienborn is exactly that kind of festival: on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at the Herkules Arena — a football tournament, family games, and party night all in one. Free admission, food and drinks available all day.
The organizers are the two local sports clubs TuS Kaan-Marienborn and 1. FC Kaan-Marienborn, who organize the event together. This makes the festival special: it's not just a stage event, but combines active sports, a children's program, and an evening party into a full day where the district comes together.
The day begins at 11:00 AM with a football tournament featuring local clubs and institutions — from the parish council to the fire department team. Simultaneously, family games for parents, children, and grandparents will take place, focusing on team spirit and fun rather than athletic performance. At 5:00 PM, the awards ceremony will be held — short, cordial, with trophies and a champagne reception.
From 6:00 PM, the party night begins: three bands are confirmed — the local stars Garden 5, plus Belle Four and One Hit Wonder. The musical spectrum ranges from Rock and Alternative to Punk and Party Pop. The organizers are also teasing a secret headline act — quote: “The ‘best’ comes at the end.”
On the evening before, Friday, June 12, 2026, a friendly match will take place between 1. FC Kaan-Marienborn and Shqiponja Siegen — the proceeds will benefit local kindergartens. Those who spend the whole weekend in Kaan-Marienborn can combine the two days into a district festival weekend.
The Herkules Arena is the sports ground and club headquarters of TuS and 1. FC Kaan-Marienborn — an open sports facility with a grass pitch, grandstand, and ample space for a festival stage and food stalls. Located on the outskirts of Kaan-Marienborn (north of Siegen), with parking directly at the venue.
Siegen, with around 102,000 inhabitants, is the center of the Siegerland region in southern North Rhine-Westphalia — a hilly area with a tradition in iron and steel processing. Kaan-Marienborn is one of the northern districts and embodies the small-town atmosphere that characterizes the Siegerland: strong club ties, short distances, high participation in local festivals.
Fifth edition, fifth summer: The Kääner Sommer 2026 expands its program, combining a sports tournament, family games, and live music into a full day. The mystery surrounding the headline act is part of the concept — the organizers keep the name secret until the performance.
