Thursday Concerts at the Kurplatz

The Kurplatz in the center of Glowe is the open stage of the Baltic Sea resort — a few steps from the beach access, with a small permanent stage and an open area that can accommodate several hundred listeners in good weather. Every Thursday from 6 PM to 9 PM, the square transforms into an open-air concert stage for the municipality of Glowe during the summer.

The Musical Range

The program focuses on broad accessibility: singer-songwriters with acoustic guitar, folk and blues rock combos, Schlager pop bands, and occasionally classical-contemporary programs like the Thomas Putensen Ensemble. Some bands come from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, others from Berlin or Northern Germany. Most perform programs lasting between 60 and 120 minutes — perfect for a relaxed summer evening after a day at the beach.

Concept: Accessible and Family-Friendly

Unlike the "Hafenklänge" (PonTon concerts at the marina), the focus of the Kurplatz concerts is on family-friendliness: Early start time (6 PM), end before midnight (9 PM), free admission, space to sit on your own blankets or folding chairs. Many families combine the concert with an evening stroll along the beach promenade or an ice cream from the surrounding cafés.

Significance for Glowe

The series is one of the four pillars of the summer program in Glowe — alongside "Hafenklänge", "Promenadenzauber", and the "Hafenfest". With about ten concerts per season, it is the longest of the concert series and forms the continuous musical accompaniment to the summer. The organizer is the municipality of Ostseebad Glowe, financed through the visitor's tax and municipal funds.
