Sunday Flea and Creative Market »Treasures from A to Z« at the Kurplatz
Glowe, a state-recognized Baltic Sea resort on Rügen's north coast, thrives on beach tourism in the summer — and on the cultural program organized by the municipality around the Kurplatz and the beach promenade. One of the most charming traditions is the flea and creative market, which takes place on selected Sundays during the summer months. Unlike the professional craft markets (Bunter Bodden-Markt on Mondays, Schlossmarkt Spyker on Mondays), the flea market is deliberately designed to be accessible: private individuals, collectors, and hobbyists also sell their "treasures" here.
The motto says it all: the flea and creative market features a diverse range of goods side-by-side. Vintage fashion (old beach dresses, denim jackets, hats), vinyl records from the GDR and West German 60s-70s era, old books and postcards, antique tableware and glassware, small furniture, paintings and prints, handmade jewelry (amber, silver), ceramics from hobby workshops, knitted baby clothes, homemade jams and jellies, toys from the 80s for collectors. The mix is the program — and makes browsing a treasure hunt.
The flea market is not as regulated as a classic craft market: alongside professional flea market vendors from Stralsund, Greifswald, and Rostock, you'll find private individuals with household clear-outs, hobby crafters, young designers from the region, and children with their outgrown toys. This is what gives the market its special charm — prices are negotiable, and the stories behind the items are often more personal than at large antique markets.
The Sunday flea market complements Glowe's event program and, in good weather, offers families an ideal meeting point after a morning at the beach. Its central location at the Kurplatz — just a few steps from the beach access and promenade — makes the market easily accessible. The organizer is the municipality of Ostseebad Glowe.
In 2026, the municipality of Ostseebad Glowe will again organize the traditional flea and creative market on six Sundays. The dates are spread throughout the summer months, giving beach and island guests multiple opportunities to browse at the Kurplatz.
Between 30 and 60 stalls are expected each market day — depending on the weather and registration numbers. The mix of professional flea market vendors, hobby crafters, and private individuals ensures a diverse range of goods.
All market days take place at Glowe Kurplatz (Am Kurplatz, 18551 Ostseebad Glowe). In case of very bad weather, postponements or cancellations may occur — current information at glowe.de or from the Tourist Info (038302 5221).
Free admission. Prices at the flea market stalls are negotiable (typically €1–€50 depending on the item).
