St. Hubertus Schützenverein Berßen
The St. Hubertus Schützenverein Berßen e.V. is a typical example of the rural shooting culture of the northern Emsland. It unites the two neighboring villages of Groß Berßen and Klein Berßen into a common club community — a practice that is widespread in the Emsland and solidaristically brings smaller neighboring villages together.
Samtgemeinde Sögel
Groß and Klein Berßen are part of the Samtgemeinde Sögel in the northern Emsland — a region with dense Schützenfest customs and a lively rural-Catholic club culture.
St. Hubertus — Patron Saint of Shooters
The club bears the name of Saint Hubertus, one of the most popular patron saints of hunters and shooters in the predominantly Catholic Münsterland and Emsland regions. The veneration of St. Hubertus is a firm tradition within the club.

The union of Groß and Klein Berßen under a common club umbrella is an expression of neighborly solidarity. The Schützenfest is a meeting point for the residents of both places and makes their shared identity visible.
