Queller Sommer — The Neighbourhood Festival in Bielefeld's South

In Bielefeld's Quelle district (Brackwede borough), the entire south of the city meets in midsummer for a two-day neighbourhood festival. On July 11 and 12, 2026, the Queller Gemeinschaft e.V. is organizing the Queller Sommer — with two stages, a program ranging from school choirs to Irish music, and a Sunday concept that combines the classic neighbourhood festival character with an emergency services mile, children's flea market, and ecumenical service.

Saturday, July 11, 2026 — Music, Dance, Children

Saturday starts at 2:00 PM and runs until 11:00 PM. Two stages shape the program:

Meadow Stage

  • 2:00 PM — School musical “Die sieben Schläfer”
  • 3:30 PM — Faryna with interactive children's songs
  • 6:30 PM — Thracian Folklore
  • 6:15 PM — Renegades Linedancer
  • 7:00 PM — Duo “Alina singt” (Vocals & Piano)

Main Stage

  • 2:30 PM — Broken Bread (Irish Music)
  • 5:00 PM — Pan Groove Steel Orchestra
  • 8:00 PM — Band X-ACT (Cover Band)

Also on the festival grounds: Bouncy castles, miniature railway (2:00 PM-7:00 PM), and childcare.

Sunday, July 12, 2026 — Community, Family, Emergency Services

Sunday begins at 11:00 AM and ends at 7:00 PM. The program focuses on a different emphasis:

  • 11:00 AM — Ecumenical service with choirs
  • 2:00 PM — “Die schiefe Bahn” (Children's Rock Music)
  • 3:00 PM — Emergency Services Mile with demonstrations by the fire brigade, ambulance service, and police
  • 4:00 PM — Bielefeld Fire Brigade Music Corps
  • 12:00 PM-6:00 PM — Children's activities
  • Children's flea market with no stall fee

Quelle — A District with Identity

The district of Quelle is located in the south of Bielefeld, in the Brackwede borough, on the edge of the Teutoburg Forest. With its own clubs, churches, schools, and a dedicated resident population, Quelle has a strong identity. The Queller Gemeinschaft e.V. is the umbrella organization of clubs and actors — for years, it has organized the Queller Sommer as an expression of this district's self-awareness.

Bielefeld — A Large City with Neighbourhood Culture

With around 340,000 inhabitants, Bielefeld is the largest city in Ostwestfalen-Lippe and one of the largest independent cities in Germany. The city is divided into ten districts — and while the city center with Sparrenburg Castle and the university shapes the external perception, life thrives in the districts. Quelle is one of these strong neighbourhoods — and Queller Sommer is the annual highlight.

Come on Saturday afternoon for the family phase: the bouncy castles and the miniature railway are highlights for children, and the transition into the evening with X-ACT (8:00 PM main stage) is the best part of the weekend. The early Sunday slot (11:00 AM ecumenical service) is worthwhile for families from the district as an opening.
