Brackwede Spring Funfair — Season Kick-off in Bielefeld's South

For decades, the Frühjahrskirmes Brackwede has been the first highlight of the Bielefeld funfair season. In 2026, it will be set up at Gleisdreieck on Duisburger Straße 3 in the Brackwede district — twice: March 20th–22nd and March 27th–29th, 2026. Those who were in a hurry and missed the first wave get a second chance.

Rides and Showmen's Program

The borough in the south of the city was an independent municipality until 1973 and still retains a strong local identity. The Gleisdreieck, a former railway area on the Bielefeld-Hamm railway line, has established itself as a festival site — for both the spring funfair and the Brackwede Kirmes in September.

A Tradition That Lasts Two Weeks

The unusual format with two consecutive weekends is a special feature of the Brackwede funfair: instead of a continuous week, the funfair takes a break on weekdays and returns the following weekend. This allows showmen to utilize their attractions effectively, and the public has double the reason to return. Getting There

By car, you can reach Gleisdreieck via the A33 (exit Bielefeld-Brackwede). Public transport connection: StadtBahn Line 1 to Brackwede station, then a short walk. As the area is a historic railway triangle, it is directly connected to the Bielefeld S-Bahn network.
