One of the largest Upper Bavarian Old Town Festivals — Stadtplatz and historic alleys
The Mühldorfer Altstadtfest takes over the over 400-meter-long Stadtplatz with its characteristic medieval townscape. The square, lined with burgher houses featuring Inn-Salzach architecture (multi-story facades, oriel windows, continuous canopies), is one of the most beautiful town squares in Bavaria. The entire length of the square is used for the festival — with several stages for different music genres.
The musical program is spread across several stages along the Stadtplatz — from Rock and Pop to Jazz and Folk music, and even Latin American rhythms. A particular strength: The festival caters to multiple generations and tastes simultaneously. While adults enjoy live music at the Stadtplatz, the Children's Area takes care of the younger guests with games, hands-on activities, and family entertainment.
Local restaurateurs provide the catering with large pans, Franconian-Bavarian cuisine, and drinks of all kinds. Anyone wandering the Stadtplatz from end to end will hear different music at every stage and taste a different specialty at every stand.
Mühldorf am Inn is a district town with around 21,000 inhabitants, the seat of the Mühldorf am Inn district administration, in the Upper Bavaria region of Bavaria. Historically, the town was an important salt trading post on the salt route between Reichenhall and Burghausen. The long Stadtplatz with its oriel windows and canopies is a legacy of this trading prosperity. Today, Mühldorf is an important medium-sized town in the Inn-Salzach region, nestled between Wasserburg, Burghausen, Altötting, and Rosenheim.
