Anniversary Year 2026 of the Jübek Youth Fire Brigade — Three Decades of Commitment in the Arensharde Municipality
On April 19, 1996, the Jübek Youth Fire Brigade was established by the Jübek Volunteer Fire Brigade — in response to the need to ensure long-term voluntary fire protection in the community. Thirty years later, the group is an integral part of village life in the Arensharde Municipality, in the heart of the Schleswig-Flensburg district, situated on the A7 motorway between Schleswig and Flensburg. With currently around 20 members aged 10 to 18, it is one of the most vibrant youth groups in the municipality.
In 2026, the Youth Fire Brigade is dedicating itself to its thirtieth anniversary: the entire year will feature events, drills, and ceremonies in honor of its founding in 1996. The official ceremony for the anniversary itself is planned for spring — the exact date and detailed program will be communicated in due course by the Youth Fire Brigade Leader Finja Jebe and her team. Parallel to this, the regular annual events will take place: the Municipal Fire Brigade Day on September 12, 2026 (with competitions for the youth fire brigades from the Arensharde Municipality), drill evenings, camping trips, and the traditional Christmas market in December.
In recent years, the Jübek Youth Fire Brigade has regularly achieved sporting success — the team took first place at the Municipal Fire Brigade Day in 2018. In 2016, the group supported the acquisition of the new water tender, and in recent years, members have participated in state-level camping trips in Schleswig-Holstein. The leadership team consists of Finja Jebe (Youth Fire Brigade Leader), Lukas Jansen (Deputy), Emma Schmidl (Youth Group Leader), and Leoni Stade (Deputy).
The Youth Fire Brigade is a springboard into the operational department of the Jübek Volunteer Fire Brigade — many current active members started here at the age of ten. In addition to basic fire brigade knowledge (fire protection, knots, equipment training, first aid), team building, responsibility, and community are central. The anniversary year 2026 is also a recruitment year — the group is actively seeking new members from Jübek and the surrounding municipalities of the Arensharde Municipality.
The Arensharde Municipality comprises eleven communities in the Schleswig-Flensburg district, with its administrative seat in Schuby. The Jübek Volunteer Fire Brigade is one of the most traditional brigades in the municipality and is part of the nationwide network of approximately 22,000 volunteer fire brigades in Germany. The 30th anniversary of the youth division thus also represents successful youth development work in rural Schleswig-Holstein.
The entire year 2026 is dedicated by the Jübek Youth Fire Brigade to its thirtieth anniversary. The ceremonial act for the actual anniversary day — the group was founded on April 19, 1996 — will be held in the spring. The exact date and program will be communicated by Youth Fire Brigade Leader Finja Jebe and the Jübek Volunteer Fire Brigade via the official website and social media channels.
Parallel to the anniversary, the regular dates for the Youth Fire Brigade and the entire Jübek brigade will continue. The highlight is the Municipal Fire Brigade Day on September 12, 2026, where the youth fire brigades of the Arensharde Municipality will compete in practical and theoretical disciplines. Also on the calendar: a summer camp, the Volunteer Fire Brigade's participation in the Harvest Festival, and the Christmas market in December.
Note: The detailed date for the ceremonial act and the supporting program for the 30th anniversary will be announced by the Jübek Youth Fire Brigade via the official website feuerwehr-juebek.de/jugendfeuerwehr/ and social media channels.
The ceremonial act and public events are expected to be free of charge. Food and drinks may be purchased at accompanying events (e.g., Harvest Festival, Christmas market).
By car: Take A7 exit 5 (Tarp) or 6 (Schleswig/Jagel), then follow the B201 or country road to Jübek. By train: Regional train Hamburg–Flensburg, stop at Jübek (Schleswig–Flensburg line). The fire station on Große Straße is within walking distance from the train station.
