80 Years VfL Eiche – Anniversary Festival

From Fusion Club to Village Anchor

VfL Eiche Idstedt-Neuberend was founded in 1946 from the merger of TSV Idstedt and SC Eiche Neuberend. The post-war years in Schleswig-Holstein were a time of new club foundations – many small communities sought structures where young people and adults could come together for sports and social activities. VfL Eiche emerged from this spirit and in 2026 celebrates its 80th anniversary.

The Anniversary Festival in Two Acts

The program on Saturday, August 22, 2026, is divided into two phases. In the morning, the club welcomes invited guests – club members, representatives from the municipalities of Idstedt and Neuberend, the district sports association Schleswig-Flensburg, and friendly clubs – to an official ceremony. From 2:00 PM, the public festival program begins on the sports field and in the Neuberend sports hall.

Sport, Games, Fun for All Generations

The club's departments showcase their skills: demonstrations by gymnasts and football teams, as well as other departments, alternate on the pitch. For children, there is a bouncy castle, game stations, and arts and crafts activities. On the festival grounds, club members provide guests with coffee and cake, fresh waffles and crêpes, and the North German classic combo of currywurst with fries. Admission is free.

Idstedt and Neuberend – Two Villages, One Club

Idstedt and Neuberend are located about 8 km north of Schleswig in the Amt Arensharde, in the middle of the Schleswig Geest. Idstedt has gone down in German-Danish history due to the battle in 1850 (the Idstedt Monument commemorates it). Today, community life is significantly shaped by VfL Eiche, the fire department, and the parish. The state of Schleswig-Holstein supports sports clubs like VfL Eiche because they form the backbone of the rural social structure.
