Street festival with village character

The Straßenfest Böklund on the Road is the annual summer festival of the municipality of Böklund in the Schleswig-Flensburg district. For an afternoon and evening, Schleswiger Straße, the main traffic artery through the village, is transformed into a festival mile: associations, businesses, clubs, and restaurateurs from Böklund and the surrounding area present themselves with stalls, demonstrations, and activities.

Program

The program follows a proven structure:

• From 2 PM: Opening of the street festival
• Stalls of associations, businesses, and clubs
• Demonstrations by local groups and associations
• Afternoon: DJ program with North German dance music and pop hits
• Evening: Live concert by the band "Scotch on the Rox" – a local classic of the North German cover scene
• Food and drinks at several stalls
• Entertainment for the whole family until late in the evening

Closure of Schleswiger Straße

Schleswiger Straße – the L21, which runs through Böklund from the Schleswig region to the Baltic Sea coast district – will be closed for the event. Diversion signs will redirect traffic. The festival thus takes over the entire village center, creating an open festival mile that offers significantly more space than a conventional festival site.

Böklund is located in the middle of the rural Schleswig-Flensburg district, the northernmost district of Schleswig-Holstein. The municipality, with around 2,500 inhabitants, is the administrative seat of the Süderbrarup office and is conveniently located between Schleswig and Kappeln on the Schlei estuary. The street festival is one of the most important events for the community's identity.
