Ten days of music and cabaret in the Haberkasten courtyard
The Haberkasten in Mühldorf am Inn is a former oat storage building from the 16th century, located right in the middle of the historic old town on the market square. Today, it serves as a venue for the town of Mühldorf. Its courtyard — framed by old storage buildings and burgher houses — is the festival stage for the Sommerfestival: an atmospheric place with a historic backdrop, manageable size, and a theater-like ambiance. Not a classic open-air event, but a festival in an urban courtyard.
The Sommerfestival runs for ten days and comprises nine events, curated by the town of Mühldorf. The 2026 program, in its 27th edition, alternates between several genres:
Mühldorf am Inn (approx. 22,000 inhabitants) is the district town of the Mühldorf am Inn district in Lower Bavaria. The town is located on the Inn River, about 70 km east of Munich. The old town with its characteristic market square (over 300 meters long, lined with colorful burgher houses), town tower, castle, and monastery church is considered one of the most beautiful in Lower Bavaria. In the Middle Ages, Mühldorf was an important salt trading town — the wealth of the salt merchants is still clearly visible in the magnificent houses on the market square.
Anyone looking for a curated, high-quality festival in an atmospheric setting — without the stress of a mega open-air event — will love the Sommerfestival Mühldorf. The format is family-friendly (with its own interactive concert), but also offers politically sophisticated cabaret with Toni Uthoff, as well as internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter Pippo Pollina and pop star Michael Schulte. A mix that is only possible in a medium-sized town with a vibrant culture.
The 2026 Sommerfestival, in its 27th edition, offers ten days of high-quality programming featuring pop, singer-songwriter music, cabaret, a singer-songwriter concert, and jazz in the atmospheric Haberkasten courtyard.
Opening on Friday, July 17th, with Michael Schulte — the Eurovision star ('You Let Me Walk Alone' 2018, multiple chart successes). This is followed by LOI with her pop-songwriter set on Saturday, a family interactive concert with Senta on Sunday afternoon, and throughout the second week, top-class cabaret from Eva Karl Faltermeier, Helmut Schleich, the political cabaret duo Toni & Max Uthoff, and a concert by the Sicilian-German singer-songwriter Pippo Pollina with his Palermo Acoustic Quintet. The festival concludes with a Jazz Brunch featuring the Swingstreet Bigband on Sunday, July 26th, at 11 AM.
