Müggelheim — a Village in Berlin
Müggelheim, located in the Berlin district of Treptow-Köpenick, is one of the few Berlin districts that have retained their village character through all waves of incorporation. The district lies between the Großer Müggelsee lake and the Müggelwald forest, still has a classic village green as its center today and a lively club scene. In 2026, the Müggelheim Village Green Festival runs from Friday, June 5th, to Sunday, June 7th. Friday and Saturday from 12:00 PM–10:00 PM, Sunday from 12:00 PM–8:00 PM. The venue is the historic Müggelheim village green at Alt-Müggelheim 21, 12559 Berlin. Free admission.
Three Stages, Parade, Street Food
The festival features three separate stages, which are used in parallel and sometimes jointly — from Schlager and pop to cover bands and folk acts. The highlight is the traditional parade, usually on Saturday afternoon, with traditional costume groups, pipe bands, clubs from the district and surrounding villages. Street food stalls, bratwurst stands, cocktail bars and craft markets line the village green; a dedicated children's area with carousels, game stalls and craft activities completes the family-friendly program.
Müggelheim Local History Association as Organizer
The organizer and driving force is the Müggelheim Local History Association, which has been organizing the festival independently for decades — with a lot of volunteer commitment and support from local business people, clubs, the Müggelheim volunteer fire department and the church community. In cooperation with Hauptstadtkultur Berlin, the stage program and street food are professionally supplemented — the mix of club life and curated event format is part of the charm.
In Berlin's Far Southeast
Müggelheim belongs to the Treptow-Köpenick district in the state of Berlin (city-state) and is located in the far southeast of the city — beyond the Müggelsee lake, nestled in the Müggelwald forest. Arrival by bus 269 or by car (via Müggelheimer Damm) is essential: there is no direct S-Bahn/U-Bahn connection. Anyone who wants to experience a classic village festival in the middle of Berlin in the summer of 2026 should come here.
Müggelheim Village Green Festival — edition 2026
The 2026 Village Green Festival continues the well-established three-day format of its predecessors. Over the long Whitsun-like weekend at the beginning of June, the Müggelheim village green transforms into a classic Berlin village festival with three stages, a parade, street food, and a children's zone.
