Three days of harvest festival on the Alt-Müggelheim village green – bands, DJs, magicians, and children's rides in Southeast Berlin
Müggelheim is one of the easternmost districts of Berlin. Nestled between the Müggelsee lake, the Großer Müggelsee lake, and the Müggelberge hills, the old farming and fishing village feels like an island within the Treptow-Köpenick borough. Berlin has never quite felt like a big city here: small wooden houses, a village church, the green as the central axis. It is precisely this atmosphere that has made the Müggelheim Harvest Festival one of the most charming folk festivals at the end of the Berlin summer for years.
For three festival days, the Alt-Müggelheim village green and the adjacent festival meadow (Address: Alt-Müggelheim 22, 12559 Berlin) become a festival mile. Three stages are spread across the festival grounds:
The Erntedankfest (Harvest Thanksgiving Festival) is traditionally celebrated in German villages in early October. In Berlin's suburban villages – Müggelheim, Lübars, Marienfelde, Heiligensee – the date is usually set in September, with similar symbolism: harvest crown, hay, pumpkins, a festive parade, and social gathering. The Müggelheim Harvest Festival combines this tradition with a classic Berlin folk festival format.
Müggelheim was founded in 1747 as a Palatinate colonist village and has been part of Berlin since 1920. Only about 6,000 inhabitants live on approximately 21 km² – an extremely low number by Berlin standards. The Müggelsee lake and the Müggelberge hills make the district a popular destination for nature lovers, canoeists, and hikers from all over the city.
The organizer is Jüttner Entertainment, a folk festival organizer based in Berlin with experience in village and city festivals in Treptow-Köpenick. Admission is free.
The Müggelheim Harvest Festival 2026 is announced for September 2026. The venue is again the Alt-Müggelheim village green and the adjacent festival meadow (Alt-Müggelheim 22, 12559 Berlin) in the Müggelheim district of Berlin, Treptow-Köpenick borough.
