A Village within Berlin
Founded in 1747 as a Palatinate colony, Müggelheim is now the southeasternmost district of Treptow-Köpenick. With its village green, old school, and original wooden church, the place has retained a character unexpected in Berlin – especially after an hour's journey by S-Bahn and bus from the city centre.
What Makes the Market Special
The Müggelheim Local History Association has organized the market on the first Saturday of Advent for decades. It's a rural affair: stalls selling gifts, textiles, ceramics, and handmade items line the village green between Alt-Müggelheim 21 and the village church. In the Old School, the association serves homemade cakes and coffee, the volunteer fire brigade runs a barbecue stand, and the business circle offers mulled wine. Langos, crêpes, and potato pancakes complete the culinary offerings.
Programme in the Village Church and the School
During the day, piano (Mr. Witzmann) and oboe duos perform in the Old School. The village church traditionally hosts two puppet theatre performances – in previous years, plays like The Golden Pot. The day concludes with an Advent concert in the church – in 2025, for example, with the Klangzeit Choir Biesdorf, and in previous years with various ensembles from Müggelheim's music scene.

Free admission. Getting there by public transport: S3 to Köpenick, then Bus 169 to Müggelheim. By car, take the A113 to Köpenick and continue through the Köpenick Forest. District Treptow-Köpenick, Berlin, State of Berlin.
Müggelheim Christmas Market — edition 2026
The date follows the market's decades-long tradition of taking place on the first Saturday of Advent. The Local History Association will publish the detailed programme and opening hours in late autumn 2026 on mueggelheimer-heimatverein.de. As in 2025, stalls with arts and crafts, mulled wine, a coffee room in the Old School, puppet theatre in the village church, and an Advent concert in the evening are expected.

The exact schedule for 2026 will be announced by the Müggelheim Local History Association in November 2026. Programme structure known from previous years:
- Opening of the village green Alt-Müggelheim in the morning
- Stalls with gift items, textiles, ceramics, arts and crafts
- From midday: Coffee room in the Old School with homemade cakes
- Concerts in the Old School with piano (Mr. Witzmann) and oboe duos
- Puppet theatre in the village church, two performances in the afternoon
- Late afternoon: Live music on the village green
- Advent concert in the village church to conclude the day
- Mulled wine from the business circle, barbecue by the volunteer fire brigade, Langos, crêpes, potato pancakes
