30th Anniversary of Freie Narren Dettenhausen — three days of Fasnet with traditional customs evening, witch night, and grand procession
Dettenhausen is located in the Tübingen district (AGS 08416), in the Schönbuch region between Stuttgart and Tübingen. The Swabian-Alemannic Fasnet has a strong foothold here — as in many Swabian communities. The jester guild, here the Freie Narren Dettenhausen e.V., was founded in 1996 and is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2026 with a special anniversary weekend on January 9, 10, and 11, 2026 — deliberately scheduled before the actual Fasnet season to set the anniversary celebration apart from the later highlights on Ash Wednesday and Shrove Tuesday.
The kick-off on Friday evening is the traditional customs evening — an introduction to Fasnet tradition with a presentation of the jester guild, its Häser (costumes), and masks. Local and friendly guilds present their traditional sayings, "jester marches," and line dances. An event for families and tradition enthusiasts — an introduction to what Swabian Fasnet is really about.
Saturday evening is dedicated to Witch Night: loud music, dancing in the festival tent, witch choreographies, catering by the Wehr and the jester guild. An evening for the younger generation and everyone who wants to see the wild side of Fasnet.
The highlight: on Sunday afternoon, the anniversary procession winds its way through Dettenhausen — led by the Freie Narren Dettenhausen, followed by friendly guilds from Schönbuch, the Black Forest, and the Swabian Jura. Häser, masks, music bands, dances, sayings — Swabian Fasnet in concentrated form. Afterwards, the "Fleggafasnet" takes place in the open air, instead of an indoor party — a deliberate decision for 2026 to preserve the character of the traditional event in public.
The Freie Narren Dettenhausen were founded in 1996 and have since been an integral part of the community's cultural canon. The anniversary weekend is a self-affirmation — three decades of traditional work, many generations of members, a developed Häser image, and the network with friendly guilds in the region. Anyone who wants to experience Swabian-Alemannic Fasnet beyond the tourist centers is in the right place.
The Freie Narren Dettenhausen e.V. are celebrating their 30th anniversary in 2026 with a three-day anniversary weekend. A special feature: the relocation of the closing celebration from the festival tent to the open air — the "Fleggafasnet" instead of an indoor party.
