Open-Air Theatre at the Müritz

The Müritz Saga is a theatre cycle that has been performed every summer since 2006 on the open-air stage in Waren am Mühlenberg. Waren (Müritz) is located in the Mecklenburg Lake District district on the shore of the Müritz, the largest lake entirely within Germany. The natural stage provides an atmospheric setting for the evening performances.

An Ongoing Story

Unlike a single play, the Müritz Saga tells a continuous saga: each season brings a new chapter that expands on the stories of the region and its people. The plays are written specifically for the Waren open-air stage and draw on historical subjects from Mecklenburg. Over the years, this creates a cohesive narrative arc that appeals to regular audiences as well as first-time visitors.

Large Ensemble and Elaborate Staging

With a large ensemble, historical costumes, and sophisticated stage technology, the Müritz Saga offers professional summer theatre. The performances last around two and a half hours, including an intermission, and take place over several weeks – usually Wednesdays to Saturdays in the evening and Sundays in the late afternoon.
