On November 27, 2026, Memmingen opens its Advent season with Lichterglanz. The city center will be festively illuminated, shops will remain open until 10 PM, and the Christkindlesmarkt around the market square until 11 PM. With the Memmingen Christmas Wichteln, a participatory event with anonymous package exchange, one of Memmingen's most popular city traditions also begins. The event attracts thousands of visitors from the Allgäu, Unterallgäu, and the wider region to the Swabian Imperial City of Memmingen every year.
