Nine days of readings, crime events, and spooky programming on the East Frisian coast
The Norddeich Crime and Horror Days leverage a remarkable constellation: Crime and horror are two of the most popular reading and film genres in Germany, and the East Frisian coast, with its melancholic November landscapes, the Wadden Sea, the endless dikes, and the maritime atmosphere, offers the ideal backdrop for engaging with dark, thrilling stories. The event builds upon the concept of East Frisian crime tradition β think of Klaus-Peter Wolf's East Frisian crime novels β and develops it into a multi-day festival.
The program typically includes several formats:
The events are spread across several locations:
In the last two decades, East Frisia has developed into one of Germany's most productive crime regions. Klaus-Peter Wolf's East Frisia series about Commissioner Ann Kathrin Klaasen has sold millions of copies for years, and other East Frisian crime authors have established themselves. The Crime and Horror Days tap into this cultural trend, highlighting the region not just as a setting, but as a creative hub for German suspense literature.
The 2026 Crime and Horror Days will continue the successful format of previous years. The program will typically focus on German-speaking crime authors with a connection to the East Frisian region.
The detailed 2026 program will be published by the Norddeich Tourism Service in October 2026. The structure will follow the established cornerstones of previous years:
Various locations in Norden and Norddeich (26506). Specific venues will be published in the program.
