Funfair with a Saint's Connection

The Bennokirmes Bad Iburg is a folk festival with a long tradition. It is named after Saint Benno of Osnabrück, the former bishop of the Diocese of Osnabrück, to whom Bad Iburg has been historically closely linked. For centuries, Bad Iburg Castle was the residence of the Osnabrück bishops. The annual funfair keeps this church-historical connection alive as a popular festival.

Bad Iburg is a recognized Kneipp spa town, and the Kneipp experience park is one of the central excursion destinations in the spa town. The exact date of the Bennokirmes 2026 will be published by the organizer in spring. Traditionally, the festival takes place in mid-June — a summer date that takes advantage of the warm season and the peak tourist season in Bad Iburg.
