Traditional Martinimarkt in Roßtal with arts and crafts, club stalls, and the Pulzermärtl for children — one of the most popular festivals in the Fürth district
Roßtal is a market town in the district of Fürth in the Bavarian administrative region of Middle Franconia, southwest of Fürth and Nuremberg. The Martinimarkt, held around St. Martin's Day, is one of the most popular and oldest festivals in the community — a market that celebrates tradition, craftsmanship, and community.
The market activities are spread across the Marktplatz, Schulstraße, Rathausgasse, and the historic Spitzweedscheune. The offerings range from culinary specialties and arts and crafts to regional products. A trade fair near the primary school showcases local crafts and businesses, while the social exhibition "Roßtal sozial" in the town hall provides information about social institutions and offers a nursing and changing facility.
A special highlight for the youngest visitors is the Pulzermärtl — a traditional figure who parades through the market on Sunday, distributing sweets to children. This local traditional figure gives the Martinimarkt its own unique identity.
The supporting program includes cabaret, classical and jazz concerts, and museum exhibitions. Local Roßtal clubs provide culinary catering. The festival is supported by local business associations (BDS Roßtal), clubs, and the market municipality; the fire department, Red Cross, and security services ensure smooth operation.
Roßtal, with its Romanesque St. Laurentius Church, is located in Rangau, the hilly landscape west of Nuremberg and Fürth. The Martinimarkt is an expression of the vibrant club and civic culture and a tourist attraction for the entire region in late autumn.
The Martinimarkt 2026 has been confirmed by the market municipality of Roßtal for Saturday, November 7, and Sunday, November 8, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Market activities will be spread across the market square, Schulstraße, Rathausgasse, and the historic Spitzweedscheune. Offerings include arts and crafts, regional products, a trade fair near the primary school, and the "Roßtal sozial" social exhibition in the town hall. On Sunday, the Pulzermärtl will visit the children and distribute sweets. The event also includes cabaret, jazz concerts, and museum exhibitions.
