Traditional two-week spring fair on the Marktberg in Prenzlau
The MarienJahrMarkt Prenzlau, with its nearly two-week run, is one of Brandenburg's longest spring fairs. It takes place every year at the end of May/beginning of June on the Marktberg – the historic market hill area in the center of Prenzlau –. In 2026, the market runs from May 29 to June 9 (Ascension Day to after Pentecost).
The Marktberg transforms into a classic funfair area:
The organizer and operator of the MarienJahrMarkt has been the Sperlich Funfair Business for generations – now in its 4th generation. The Sperlich family maintains a long-standing close relationship with the city of Prenzlau and ensures the continuity of the market tradition.
In the middle of the market's run, the Prenzlau City Festival will also take place on Saturday, June 6, 2026. Stages, music, and market stalls in the pedestrian zone perfectly complement the funfair offerings – a weekend when the entire city center is buzzing. The "Men's Day Party" on Ascension Day (May 14, 2026) is also part of the extended festival season.
Prenzlau (around 19,000 inhabitants) is the district town of the Uckermark district and is located on the Unteruckersee lake in one of Northern Germany's most impressive lake landscapes. The medieval city wall with its towers, St. Mary's Church, and the Dominican monastery shape the cityscape. The Marktberg is the city's historic gathering and market trading place.
The MarienJahrMarkt Prenzlau 2026 takes place from May 29 to June 9, 2026, on the Marktberg in the city center of the Uckermark district town. The organizer is the traditional Sperlich Funfair Business in its 4th generation.
On the Marktberg, the Tornado roller coaster spins, the bumper cars run, Baby-Flug and the children's carousel circle. Shooting galleries and lottery stalls are part of it, as are numerous food stands with Langos, Bratwurst, Crêpes, and sweets. The market is open Monday to Friday from 1 p.m., Saturday and Sunday (as well as Ascension Day on May 14 and Whit Monday) from 11 a.m. On Saturday, June 6, 2026, the Prenzlau City Festival complements the program.
