Uckermark Music Weeks — Over 30 Years of Festival
Since 1992, the Uckermark Music Weeks have brought early music, folklore, and contemporary music to one of Germany's most sparsely populated regions. The festival association based in Prenzlau is the organizer; performances take place in village churches, manor houses, barns, stables, chapels, castles, and gardens throughout the Uckermark. The 2026 edition runs from August 1 to 23, 2026, and includes over 20 concerts at various locations.
Concert by Vocal Ensemble Tiburtina (CZ) in Prenzlau
One of the highlights of the Uckermark Music Weeks 2026 is the concert by the Vocal Ensemble Tiburtina from the Czech Republic with the program “Cor Europae — Heart of Europe”. Date: Saturday, August 8, 2026, 7:00 PM in Prenzlau. Since the 2000s, Tiburtina has established itself as one of Europe's leading vocal ensembles for medieval and early Baroque music. The Prague-based ensemble combines historical source research with exceptional vocal clarity — perfect for a summer evening in the brick Gothic architecture of the Uckermark.
Anniversary 2026: 40 Years of Ensemble Estampie
The 2026 edition features a special anniversary: Ensemble Estampie — one of the festival's co-founding ensembles — celebrates its 40th anniversary. Estampie specializes in medieval music and will perform on August 2 in Nordwestuckermark with the program “Under der linden”. This concert is considered the festival's second major highlight after the Tiburtina performance.
New Venues for 2026
The festival is opening two new venues in 2026: the Hyperschale Templin and the Gutshaus Woltersdorf. Three concerts will also be held as open-air events in gardens and castle ruins.
Prenzlau — Hanseatic City of the Uckermark
With nearly 19,000 inhabitants, Prenzlau is the district capital of the Uckermark district, located about 100 km north of Berlin. The city was a Hanseatic League member in the Middle Ages and has partially preserved its brick Gothic architecture — St. Mary's Church, Dominican Monastery, city walls — to this day. These sacred spaces offer ideal acoustic architecture for early music festivals.
