Advent Magic on the Marktberg

The Prenzlau Christmas Market is the central Advent event of the Uckermark. Set up on the historic Marktberg – the central market hill of the town center – Prenzlau transforms into a festive Christmas mile between the 1st Saturday of Advent and the 3rd Sunday of Advent. In 2026, the market runs from Saturday, November 28, to Sunday, December 13, 2026.

Festively Decorated Stalls

Wooden stalls decorated with fir branches, fairy lights, and stars form the market architecture:

• Culinary Delights: Mulled wine, eggnog, children's punch, candied almonds, bratwurst, potato pancakes, crêpes, gingerbread, roasted potatoes, chocolate-covered fruits.
• Gifts: handmade jewelry, ceramics, felt products, candles, wooden toys, knitted and embroidered goods.
• Handicrafts: woodturning, Erzgebirge-style pyrotechnics, glassblowers, floristry.
• Advent Souvenirs from the region (Uckermark honey, mead, spirits).

Colorful Stage Program

The program on the market stage changes daily:

• Choir evenings by local school and town choirs.
• Concerts by regional bands (Schlager, Folk, Pop).
• Advent services with live broadcast from the Marienkirche.
• Performances by dance schools and sports clubs.
• Magicians and storytellers for children.
• Pyramid lighting ceremony to mark the market's opening.
• Highlight: Advent concerts and a visit from Santa Claus.

Marktberg – Historic Center

The Marktberg has been the central market and meeting place of the town of Prenzlau since the Middle Ages. The square, flanked by the town hall and the Marienkirche, offers an impressive brick Gothic ensemble and is particularly atmospheric in winter. The medieval city wall with its towers glows in the background.

Prenzlau – The Capital of the Uckermark

Prenzlau (around 19,000 inhabitants) is the district town of the Uckermark district and is located on the Unteruckersee lake. The town has been an important trading center since the 13th century and houses several remarkable brick Gothic buildings such as the Marienkirche and the Dominican Monastery. The Christmas market complements the tourist season in late autumn.
