27th concert series in one of North Brandenburg's most significant monasteries
The Dominikanerkloster Prenzlau is one of the most important preserved mendicant order monasteries in North Brandenburg and a prime example of North German Brick Gothic architecture. Founded in the 13th century, the monastery today houses the Uckermark Museum, the city library, the city archive, and the Kulturarche Prenzlau — a cultural organization that uses the monastery building as a year-round venue. The complex, with its monastery church, cloister, and Friedensgarten, offers an exceptional acoustic and atmospheric experience — a Brandenburg landmark worth visiting for a festival.
The Kultursommer at the Dominikanerkloster is one of Brandenburg's longest-running concert series — the 2026 edition marks the 27th occurrence. The concept: a diverse program of classical concerts, song recitals, poetry slams, theatre, blues evenings, and summer concerts — all hosted within a culturally and historically outstanding complex. The organizers are Kulturarche Prenzlau in cooperation with the Uckermark Museum.
Prenzlau is the district capital of the Uckermark district in the far north of Brandenburg. The city — a member of the Hanseatic League in the Middle Ages — preserves rich Brick Gothic city and monastery architecture, complemented by the historic city wall with its towers and the Uckersee lake as an urban natural space. The Kultursommer consistently leverages this city identity: programs with a regional connection, regional ensembles, as well as international guests.
The 2026 season runs from June 5th to August 28th. It opens with the 31st Klostergartenkonzert by the Preußisches Kammerorchester. Further highlights include the vocal ensemble Consortium Sedinum, Thomas Rühmann's solo performance, a summer music production "Love is in the air" by the Uckermärkische Bühnen Schwedt, the 17th Poetry Slam Prenzlau, a blues evening with Ignaz Netzer, and several summer concerts between August 14th and 28th (guitar, folk, jazz, reggae-pop). Tickets from €25 (€28 advance purchase), booking via Reservix.
