Maritime summer festival on the Bleckede Elbe promenade with historic ships, music, and town life
Bleckede is located directly on the Elbe and has a small harbor that was crucial for regional goods traffic and ship passages until the 20th century. Today, the harbor serves as a mooring for historic ships, excursion boats, club sport boats, and occasional freighters. The Elbe promenade – the walking and recreation path along the water – is one of the town's most attractive local recreation areas and the venue for the annual Hafentag.
The focus of the Hafentag is on the historic ships that dock in Bleckede for the festival – Tjalks, old cargo sailing ships, restoration vessels, flat-bottomed boats. Visitors can tour the ships, chat with the crews, and learn about maritime history and ship restoration. Occasional rides on the Elbe are also offered. The maritime atmosphere is enhanced by live music with shanties, folk music, and maritime programs.
In addition to the nautical program, the Hafentag offers lively town life with food stalls, club presentations, handicrafts, and family activities. Food and drinks are served from various counters – from fish sandwiches to bratwurst and vegetarian specialties, as well as cakes and ice cream. Bleckede clubs, the fire department, and social organizations are present with stalls and use the day to showcase themselves. Children will find play stations and hands-on activities.
The Hafentag is jointly organized by the town of Bleckede, the Trade and Craft Association, and the Biosphaerium Elbtalaue. This consortium of organizers combines the strengths of the town administration, local businesses, and the central cultural institution. The exact date for 2026 will be announced jointly and is typically in June.
As in previous years, the Hafentag will transform the Elbe promenade into a lively festival mile. Historic ships at the pier, maritime music, stalls from local clubs, and a family program create a relaxed summer atmosphere by the water. The day is particularly suitable for family outings – children are fascinated by the historic ships, while adults enjoy the combination of town life, water, and maritime culture.
The exact detailed program for 2026 will be published by the organizers in spring. The structure will follow the proven highlights of previous years:
