Evening Market — the meeting point after work

For several years now, the Gütersloh Evening Market has become a firm fixture in Gütersloh's summer calendar. The concept is clear: on selected late afternoons, the central Konrad-Adenauer-Platz (town hall square) becomes an open-air street food mile. Those who don't want to go straight home after work meet here for an after-work beer, local specialties, and live music in the city center.

When: Five dates in 2026

• Wednesday, April 29, 2026: Season opener with Karaoke
• Wednesday, May 27, 2026: Simon Zawila & Band (Jazz/Lounge/Pop) + Photobooth
• Wednesday, June 24, 2026: Threenabox (90s and 2000s Rock and Pop)
• Wednesday, July 29, 2026: DJ Leon Altemeier (Summer Closing)
• Wednesday, November 4, 2026: Autumn special with DJ Maik Budde (80s and 90s hits)

Each date runs from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Best time to visit: from 5:30 PM onwards — when the after-work crowd starts to arrive and the atmosphere builds.

Food Truck Selection — regional and international

Around 12 food truck and street food vendors are present at each date. The selection is a mix of regional OWL restaurateurs and international specialties:

• Pizza specialists with wood-fired pizza
• Oriental cuisine: Falafel, Shawarma, Lebanese Mezze
• Sushi: fresh Japanese specialties
• Indian cuisine: Curries, Naan, Rice dishes
• Sri Lankan cuisine: Hoppers, Curries, Specialties
• Burger trucks, BBQ stands, Crêpes, Desserts
• Drink stands: Beer, Wine, Cocktails, Non-alcoholic beverages

Vendors sometimes change between dates — some are regulars, others come for specific markets.

Musical Program 2026 — five times different

April 29, 2026 — Karaoke

The season opener is all about the open stage: Karaoke for the whole city center — whoever has the courage sings in front of the audience.

May 27, 2026 — Simon Zawila & Band + Photobooth

Jazz/Lounge/Pop with Simon Zawila & Band — an established Bielefeld formation around pianist Simon Zawila. Lounge atmosphere with piano, saxophone, bass. Photobooth for fun souvenir photos.

June 24, 2026 — Threenabox

Rock and Pop from the 90s and 2000s with the cover band Threenabox. Generation nostalgia — hits from Oasis to Britney Spears.

July 29, 2026 — DJ Leon Altemeier (Summer Closing)

Last date of the summer season. DJ Leon Altemeier with a summer closing set — relaxed House and Disco sounds for the last open-air evening of the summer.

November 4, 2026 — DJ Maik Budde (80s/90s)

Autumn special: DJ Maik Budde with 80s and 90s hits — nostalgic sounds to round off the season.

Konrad-Adenauer-Platz and Sponsors

The venue is Konrad-Adenauer-Platz, Gütersloh's central town hall square. The main sponsor is Sparkasse Gütersloh-Rietberg-Versmold, which supports the event as a contribution to revitalizing the city center. The organizer is Gütersloh Marketing — the city's central marketing and development company.

Getting There and Tips

Gütersloh train station is a 10-minute walk away. By car: A2 exit Gütersloh, parking garages in the city center. Tip: Tables and benches are set up on the square, but it gets crowded during peak times after 6:00 PM — standing room and strolling are typical. Drink tip: Non-alcoholic cocktails are also available at the bar counters.
