Winter market in the Bummelallee until the New Year
Bad Harzburg is one of North Germany's best-known spa towns and already uses its Bummelallee as a promenade all year round. The Bad Harzburger Wintertreff fits into this cityscape, creating a permanent meeting point at Port-Louis-Platz that simultaneously allows for strolling through the town center and extending café visits into the outdoor area.
The food and drink offering deliberately focuses on well-known classics. Schmalzkuchen (lard cakes) fresh from the fryer, candied almonds, freshly prepared crêpes, Dutch poffertjes, mulled wine in several varieties, and grilled specialties form the range. Those who prefer coffee, hot chocolate, or non-alcoholic hot drinks will also find them. The selected vendors ensure a consistent quality level throughout the entire event period.
A small carousel for children complements the market scene, making the Wintertreff a family meeting point. Parents and grandparents can relax with a hot drink at one of the standing tables while the children take their rides.
The Wintertreff remains open significantly longer than a classic Advent market. Starting on November 21 and ending on January 6, it spans the entire pre-Christmas period, the holidays, and the weeks around the turn of the year. This extended duration is a special feature that distinguishes it from many other Christmas markets in the region.
Together with Advent at the Stud (Advent im Gestüt) and several concerts in the spa town, the Wintertreff forms one of the densest Advent offerings in the Western Harz. Those spending the holidays in the Harz Mountains will find an open meeting point even between the festive days.
The long duration is the most distinctive feature of the Wintertreff. Starting shortly before the first Advent and ending on Epiphany, it accompanies the entire Christmas and New Year period and offers an open meeting point even in the quieter weeks between the holidays.
With a manageable, yet consistently high-quality assortment, the Wintertreff clearly positions itself within the spectrum of Advent markets. Regular visitors appreciate the reliable selection and the central location in the Bummelallee.
