Four days of exceptional atmosphere on the brewery grounds: live music, Weissbier specialties, and free admission in the heart of Bayreuth
For decades, Maisel's Weissbierfest has been one of the highlights in Bayreuth's event calendar. For four days, the Gebr. Maisel brewery transforms its grounds on Hindenburgstraße into a festival mile with a festival tent, hall, and outdoor area. Admission is free — the celebration traditionally takes place on the weekend before Ascension Day.
Each day has its own character: Thursday's Opening Party kicks off with DJ teams and party acts, Friday is all about the "Back to the 90s" night with original artists from the decade, Saturday is the big rock night with cover bands and tribute acts, and Sunday is dedicated as Family and Sports Day to the traditional Maisel's FunRun, including a children's program.
Naturally, the beer is the focus: five different Maisel's Weisse varieties are served, along with cocktails and a diverse food offering. A special feature of recent editions: only card payment is accepted at the beer token counter, while food stands continue to accept cash.
The Weissbierfest is known far beyond Bayreuth and attracts visitors from all over Upper Franconia and the Upper Palatinate. The mix of a traditional Franconian brewery festival, top-class live music, and a family-friendly sports event makes it uniquely appealing — four days of "exceptional state" right in the heart of the Wagner city.
The 36th edition of Maisel's Weissbierfest runs from Thursday, May 7, to Sunday, May 10, 2026. The festival is open Thursdays and Fridays from 6 PM, Saturdays from 4 PM, and Sundays from 9 AM. Admission is free. Each day has its own theme: Thursday is the Opening Party, Friday is "Back to the 90s", Saturday is Rock Night, and Sunday is Family and Sports Day with the 21st Maisel's FunRun and a children's program starting at 10 AM. Five Maisel's Weisse varieties and cocktails will be served; card payment will be the only option at the beer token counter in 2026.
The festival grounds of the Gebr. Maisel brewery are located at Hindenburgstraße 9 in Bayreuth, within walking distance of the city center. By train to Bayreuth Hauptbahnhof, then a few minutes' walk. By car via the A 9 (exit Bayreuth-Süd/Nord); parking available in the city center.
Admission is free. Only card payment is accepted at the beer token counter; food stands accept cash and card.
Large backpacks, umbrellas, and dogs are not permitted on the festival grounds.
