Bayreuth's Big Fun Run
Maisel's FunRun has been an integral part of the Bayreuth event calendar since the mid-2000s and is the sporting highlight of the Maisel's Weißbierfest. The run is organized by the Gebr. Maisel brewery, whose historic brewery premises on Hindenburgstraße in Bayreuth serve as both the start and finish. The run leads through the Upper Franconian festival city in the district and city of Bayreuth.
Courses for Every Level
The FunRun offers distances for all age groups and performance levels: the CEP Half Marathon (21.1 km, an officially measured and approved course by the German Athletics Association DLV), the Quarter Marathon, the 5-kilometer run, and numerous children's races – KNAX Children's Races (U12 and U10), Bambini Run (U8), and Dwarf Run (U6). This makes the run accessible to everyone, from ambitious half-marathon runners to kindergarten children enthusiastic about running.

The FunRun is embedded in the multi-day Maisel's Weißbierfest, which is celebrated annually in May around the brewery in Bayreuth. Sports, Franconian conviviality, and beer culture combine to create a festival-like weekend that attracts thousands of participants and numerous spectators every year.
Popular and Quickly Booked Out
The popularity of the run is evident in the fact that starting places are regularly booked up early. Registration begins in November of the previous year, and for 2026, all races were fully booked well before the event.
Maisel's FunRun — edition 2026
The 21st edition of Maisel's FunRun will be held on Sunday, May 10, 2026, as part of the Maisel's Weißbierfest. The start and finish are at the Gebr. Maisel brewery on Hindenburgstraße in Bayreuth. Available are the CEP Half Marathon (21.1 km, DLV-measured), the RESIDENZ QUELLE Quarter Marathon, the wellundfit 5-km run, and the KNAX Children's Races (U12, U10), the Bambini Run (U8), and the Dwarf Run (U6).
Registration began on November 11, 2025; early bird prices were valid until December 6, 2025. All distances were already sold out before race day – a testament to the enduring popularity of Bayreuth's fun run.

Getting There
Start and Finish: Brauerei Gebr. Maisel, Hindenburgstraße 9, 95445 Bayreuth. By train to Bayreuth Hauptbahnhof, from there a few minutes' walk or by city bus. By car via the A9 (exit Bayreuth-Süd) or A70.
Registration and Fees
Register online from November of the previous year at maisel.com/funrun. Early bird fees (until early December): Half marathon around 40 Euros, Quarter marathon around 34 Euros, 5-km run around 26 Euros; slightly higher thereafter. Children's races at reduced prices.
Tip
Register early – the races are regularly booked out. Afterwards, the Maisel's Weißbierfest invites you to linger.
