Wine Town in the Heuchelberg Wine Region

Löwenstein, with just under 3,000 inhabitants, is a small wine-growing town in the Heilbronn district — nestled between the slopes of the Heuchelberg and the upper Weinsberg Valley. The town is part of the historic Heuchelberg wine-growing region, known primarily for Trollinger, Lemberger, and Schwarzriesling. The Winzer vom Weinsberger Tal eG, a wine cooperative with members from Löwenstein and neighboring communities, operates the Löwenstein Wine House as a central sales and event venue.

Music and Wine Festival Since 1983

The Löwenstein Music and Wine Festival is the annual main event of the Löwenstein Music Association e.V. — and one of the association's largest annual festivals. The festival combines two local traditions: musical culture (the music association has been active in the region for decades, with its own youth and senior bands) and viticulture (the Heuchelberg wine region). The festival is held at the Löwenstein Wine House at Reisacher Straße 5 — right on the edge of the vineyards.

Atmosphere — Beer Garden Among Vineyards

In summer temperatures, guests sit in the beer garden and under the awnings of the wine house — many outdoors with a view of the surrounding vineyards. The atmosphere is relaxed Swabian: no large stages, but a festival with the character of an extended winery weekend. The catering stands serve wines directly from the wine house's tanks — Trollinger Schorle, Riesling, Lemberger, Schwarzriesling, along with wine tasting opportunities.

Music Program — The Guest Band on Saturday

The musical program is the second strength of the festival:

  • Saturday evening (August 8, 2026): a guest band from the brass music / folk music / Schlager genre performs as the main act. In previous years, bands such as the Binswangen Music Association (Bavaria) and other nationally known ensembles have performed. The exact lineup for 2026 will be published on the MV-Löwenstein website in July.
  • Sunday evening (August 9, 2026): guest bands from the surrounding area (Heilbronn, Weinsberg, Eberstadt, other Heuchelberg towns) perform in a festival format — usually 3–4 different acts in succession, with breaks for refreshments and conversation.

Culinary Offerings

The active members of the music association handle the catering:

  • Wines from Heuchelberg: Trollinger, Trollinger-Schorle, Riesling, Lemberger, Schwarzriesling, Rosé, Sekt (sparkling wine)
  • Draft beer and non-alcoholic drinks
  • Bratwurst, steaks, sausages from the grill
  • Maultaschen (Swabian ravioli), Saitenwürstle (thin pork sausages) with potato salad
  • Cheese cubes, pretzels, bread as wine accompaniments
  • Homemade cake on Sunday afternoon

Proceeds for the Music Association

As is customary for association festivals: All proceeds go directly to the Löwenstein Music Association — for instruments, sheet music, youth work, and training courses. This volunteer-funded operation is an essential pillar of the association's existence and makes the festival a true community event.
