Löwenstein Music and Wine Festival

Wine Town in the upper Weinsberger Tal

Löwenstein, with just under 3,000 inhabitants, is a small wine-growing town in the district of Heilbronn — nestled between the slopes above the Sulmtal and the upper Weinsberger Tal. The town belongs to Württemberg wine region and is primarily known for Riesling, Trollinger, Lemberger, and Schwarzriesling. The Winzer vom Weinsberger Tal eG, a winegrowers' cooperative with members from Löwenstein and neighboring communities, operates the Weinhaus Löwenstein as a central sales and event venue.

Music and Wine Festival since 1983

The Löwensteiner Musik- und Weinfest is the annual main event of the Musikverein Löwenstein e.V. — and is one of the largest annual festivals of the association. The festival combines two local traditions: music culture (the music association has been active in the region for decades, with its own youth and senior bands) and winegrowing in the upper Weinsberger Tal. The festival is held at Weinhaus Löwenstein at Reisacher Straße 5 — directly on the edge of the vineyards.

Atmosphere — Beer Garden between Vineyards

In summery temperatures, guests sit in the beer garden and under the canopies of the Weinhaus — many in the open air with a view of the surrounding vineyards. The atmosphere is relaxed-Swabian: no large stages, but a festival with the character of an extended winery weekend. The catering stands serve wines directly from the tanks of the Weinhaus — Trollinger, Trollinger-Schorle, Riesling, Lemberger, Schwarzriesling, plus wine tasting opportunities.

Music Program — the Guest Band on Saturday

The musical program is the second strength of the festival:

• Saturday evening (8.8.2026): a guest band from the brass band / folk music / Schlager genre plays as the main act. In past years, guests included the Musikverein Binswangen (Bayern) and other regionally known bands. The exact lineup for 2026 will be published in July on mv-loewenstein.de.
• Sunday (9.8.2026): friendly bands from the surrounding area (Heilbronn, Weinsberg, Eberstadt and other places) perform during the day in a festival format — usually several acts one after another, with breaks for catering and conversation.

Culinary Offerings

The catering is handled by the active members of the Musikverein:

• Wines from the Weinsberger Tal: Trollinger, Trollinger-Schorle, Riesling, Lemberger, Schwarzriesling, Rosé, Sekt
• Draft beer and non-alcoholic beverages
• Grilled sausage, chicken, schnitzel with potato salad and fries
• Cheese cubes, pretzels, bread as wine accompaniment
• Homemade cake on Sunday afternoon

Proceeds for the Musikverein

As is customary at club festivals: The proceeds go entirely to the Musikverein Löwenstein — for instruments, sheet music, youth work, and trainer courses. This voluntarily supported financing is an essential pillar of the association's existence and makes the festival a true community event.
