Pentecost weekend with Württemberg wine and castle atmosphere above the Heilbronn region
On Pentecost weekend 2026 — May 24 and 25 — the Musikverein Löwenstein invites you to the traditional Pentecost Wine Tasting in the historic old town. The venues are the medieval Unteres Tor and the neighboring Freihaus — two landmarks of the small town on the edge of the Löwensteiner Berge.
The Pentecost Wine Tasting is one of the most beautiful wine festivals in northern Württemberg and combines several program elements:
The Löwensteiner Berge are a low mountain range in northern Württemberg, between Heilbronn and Schwäbisch Hall. They belong to the Swabian-Franconian Forest Nature Park and the Württemberg wine-growing region. Trollinger, Lemberger, Riesling, and Schwarzriesling grow on the steep south-facing slopes — typical Württemberg grape varieties that make the Pentecost Wine Tasting a showcase of regional wine culture.
With only around 3,200 inhabitants, Löwenstein is one of the smallest towns in the district of Heilbronn — and one of the oldest and most atmospheric. Located on a hill above the Sulm valley, the town offers a wide view over the Heilbronn region to the Hohenlohe region. The Löwenstein castle ruins from the 12th century tower over the old town; the Unteres Tor and the Freihaus are preserved remnants of the medieval town fortifications. This compact historical setting makes the Pentecost Wine Tasting particularly charming.
The main organizer is the Musikverein Löwenstein in cooperation with the town of Löwenstein and the local vintners. The Pentecost Wine Tasting is one of the most important club events of the year — both financially for the music club and in terms of identity for the small town community.
On Pentecost weekend 2026, the Unteres Tor and Freihaus in the historic old town of Löwenstein will transform into a wine service hotspot. Local vintners from the Löwensteiner Berge will be serving their top wines — Trollinger, Lemberger, Riesling, Schwarzriesling — in a relaxed open-air atmosphere.
In parallel, the Nature Park Market will feature producers from the Swabian-Franconian Forest Nature Park, and castle tours to the Löwenstein castle ruins will be offered throughout the weekend — a perfect combination of wine enjoyment, regional culinary delights, and history.
Free admission. Wines and food at usual festival prices.
By car: A6 exit Weinsberg, then L 1100 to Löwenstein (approx. 10 km). By train: Heilbronn station (S-Bahn S4/S41/S42), then bus to Löwenstein.
Free admission. Wines, food, and market goods are sold on-site at usual festival prices.
Combine the Pentecost Wine Tasting with a hike in the Löwensteiner Berge — numerous hiking trails lead through the vineyards and the nature park. For overnight stays, Heilbronn (15 min by car) or nearby Weinsberg are suitable.
