Bredstedt in the District of Nordfriesland

Bredstedt is a small town in the Nordfriesland district in the state of Schleswig-Holstein, located on the B5 federal highway between Husum and Niebüll. The community of around 5,000 inhabitants is a central hub for the Mittleres Nordfriesland office and has developed remarkably active town marketing in recent years. In 2026, the town will celebrate the anniversary "125 Years of Town Rights".

Three Days of the Town Centre in Festival Mode

Every summer, the Markttage transform Bredstedt's town centre into a continuous festival mile for three days. Two stages — one on the market square, one in Osterstraße — present changing live programmes from Pop and Rock to Schlager. Food stalls offer regional and international specialities, from Bratwurst and prawn rolls to Asian and Mediterranean cuisine. The "Fiese Friese" giant swing — a swing over 30 metres high — will provide a special atmosphere for the first time in 2026.

Markttage Run and Association Day on Saturday

Saturday adds a sporting touch: in the afternoon, the Markttage Run takes place through the town centre in several distances — 1:00 PM Kids Run, 1:30 PM Taster Run (2.5 km), 2:15 PM 5 km Run. At the same time, around 40 associations from the Mittleres Nordfriesland office present their work on the "Buntes Osterstraße" Association Day — from sports clubs and fire brigades to social and cultural associations. A remarkable gesture for a town festival that sees itself not only as entertainment but also as a community.

Bands 2026

The two stages in 2026 will feature, among others: Mendocino Express (Schlager-Pop), Luna Soul, MIU, Good Music Live, and DJ Louicyphers. Opening music by the Bredstedt marching band. Programme and times shortly before the event at bredstedter-markttage.de.
