Four October weekends of wine festival on the Mayschoß festival grounds
The Mayschoß Wine Festival is one of the longest-running wine festival formats on the Ahr. Instead of a concentrated three-day event, it is spread over all four October weekends and German Unity Day. This creates a recurring meeting point for wine and festival guests from the Rhineland on the Mayschoß festival grounds for an entire month.
Mayschoß is home to one of the world's oldest winemaking cooperatives. The WG Mayschoß-Altenahr looks back on over 150 years of history and represents the cooperative tradition of viticulture on steep slopes. The wine festival is also the most important stage on which the cooperative presents its current Pinot Noir, Frühburgunder, Riesling, and sparkling wines to a broad audience.
Each weekend is dedicated to a specific theme, accompanied by live music and culinary highlights. The spectrum ranges from rocking cover bands and acoustic sets to classic Sunday morning 'Frühschoppen' (early pint/brunch). This variety makes visiting over several weekends worthwhile: a different atmosphere is created each time.
The warm-up takes place on October 3rd, German Unity Day. This holiday is integrated into the festival format and provides the first highlight of the season. The regular weekends follow on Saturdays and Sundays from 12 PM; the opening time makes it easier for hikers on the Red Wine Trail and day-trippers from surrounding towns to plan their visit.
This format allows visitors to experience a different variation each weekend. Those who want to catch all the events have a month to do so. The connection with the 'Weinherbst Mittelahr' (Mittelahr Wine Autumn) and the Dernau Winzerfest creates a packed festival program throughout the Mittelahr valley.
The exact theme and stage program for 2026 will be announced by the organizer in advance. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years.
