When the Lindens Bloom

The Lindenblossom Festival in Groß Lindow marks the start of summer in the Brandenburg Oder-Spree district. When the linden avenues around the village are in full bloom in mid-June and their sweet scent wafts through the village, the most important festival of the year takes place — three days of village festival with live music, club activities, showman classics, and the regional highlight: the tug-of-war competition among teams from the Amt Brieskow-Finkenheerd.

Date and Schedule 2026

The 2026 edition runs from Friday, June 19th, to Sunday, June 21st, 2026. Festival opening on Friday evening, classic festival Saturday with main stage, showmen, and competitions, a relaxed family Sunday with morning pint and winding down. The venue is the festival grounds in Groß Lindow; the entire village becomes part of the festival — clubs, fire department, kindergarten, and school participate.

Tug-of-War — The Classic

The highlight on Saturday is the tug-of-war competition: teams from Groß Lindow, Brieskow-Finkenheerd, Wiesenau, Vogelsang, and the surrounding villages face each other — an old sporting tradition, lots of sweat, and at least as much beer. The atmosphere is familial, spectators cheer loudly, and the challenge trophy changes hands every year.

Folk Festival with Clubs

On the main stage, dance groups, the local choir, schoolchildren, and a live band on Saturday evening take turns performing. The Groß Lindow fire department showcases its equipment, the kindergarten parents run a craft stand, and cakes come from the club members' kitchens. Classic showmen with a children's carousel, shooting gallery, and sweets complete the picture.

Groß Lindow on the Edge of the Schlaubetal

Groß Lindow has around 1,500 inhabitants and belongs to the Amt Brieskow-Finkenheerd in the Oder-Spree district. Its location on the edge of the Schlaubetal Nature Park — one of the most beautiful stream valleys in northern Germany — also makes the Lindenblossom Festival attractive for day-trippers from Frankfurt (Oder) and Beeskow. Anyone who wants to experience Brandenburg village life in its most unspectacular and authentic form will find it here.
