Laichingen Stadtfest — Summer Highlight on the Alb

When the long, warm days on the Swabian Jura bask in the sun one last time in August, the town of Laichingen invites you to its traditional Stadtfest. On the weekend of August 22nd to 23rd, 2026, the city center around Weite Straße and the market square will transform into a two-day festival mile with live music, club catering, and a lively atmosphere. The Stadtfest is one of the most important events in Laichingen's annual calendar, attracting visitors from the entire Alb-Donau district as well as from the neighboring Reutlingen region.

Stage Program and Live Music

Several stages are spread throughout the city center — typically a main stage at the market square, a second stage on Weite Straße, and smaller program islands in side streets. The musical spectrum is deliberately broad: Stadtkapelle Laichingen (town band), Posaunenchöre (trombone choirs), Swabian cover bands, rock and Schlager acts, and often a jazz brunch atmosphere on Sunday mornings. Club Catering and Swabian Cuisine

Around 30 Laichingen clubs operate their own stalls — sports clubs, music clubs, the fire department, heritage society, women's choir, church communities, schools. Each stall has its own culinary profile — from Rotwurst (blood sausage) to Maultaschen, Käsespätzle, Wurstsalat (sausage salad), Albdinkel bread with lard, grilled Bratwurst, fries, pizza, crêpes, and waffles. Swabian wines from the Albtrauf, apple cider from local orchards, regional beers — the drink selection is classically local. Vegetarian and vegan options are increasingly offered.

Family Program

Sunday is explicitly family-friendly: bouncy castle, face painting, craft activities by the school and kindergarten, raffle by the fire department, dog sport demonstrations, small concerts for children. The market stalls with small booths — wooden toys, regional handicrafts, fruit orchard products — also fit well with a visit to the Stadtfest with children.

Laichingen and the Albtrauf

The town of Laichingen, with around 11,700 inhabitants, is located on the high plateau of the Swabian Jura in the Alb-Donau district in Baden-Württemberg. It is famous for the Laichinger Tiefenhöhle (Laichingen Deep Cave) — one of the few accessible shaft caves in Germany — and for the Albtrauf viewpoints around Heroldstatt. The city center, with its mix of half-timbered houses and shops, is manageable — which makes the Stadtfest particularly cozy, with short distances between the stages and stalls.
