Big German rock festival at the Jakob-Laur airfield between Laichingen and Westerheim on the Swabian Jura
Rock dein Leben was launched in 2017 and has developed into one of Southern Germany's largest German rock festivals within just a few years. The festival is organized by Rock dein Leben Festival GmbH, based in Buchen — a family business that strongly shapes the festival's character: handmade, personal, fan-oriented. The booking consistently focuses on German rock, with excursions into Schlager-rock, folk-rock'n'roll, and tribute shows. Every year, the biggest names in the German rock scene perform on the main stage.
The venue is the Jakob-Laur Airfield in Laichingen, a sports airfield on the Swabian Jura at around 750 meters altitude — Westerheimerstr. 99, 89150 Laichingen, is located between Laichingen and Westerheim. During the festival days, the airfield becomes the festival grounds with a main stage, camping and motorhome pitches, a food truck mile, and service infrastructure. The capacity is around 15,000 people. The airy altitude gives the festival its special character — in clear weather, you can see far into the Danube and Fils valleys from the Jura.
Rock dein Leben maintains a clear program line: German rock as a common thread, from classics like Kärbholz to younger bands like Schattenmann or Brennstoff, and the Rammstein tribute institution Stahlzeit. Folk-rock/alpine rock acts like Voxxclub expand the spectrum, along with singer-songwriter rock (Philipp Burger, JeanLuc) and harder styles (Artefuckt). This makes Rock dein Leben a must-attend event for a broad audience beyond the hard metal festivals.
Laichingen (Alb-Donau District, AGS 08425, around 12,000 inhabitants) is located on the Swabian Jura between Stuttgart and Ulm. The town is traditionally known for its weaving — and for some years now, also as a festival location. With Rock dein Leben, Laichingen has gained an annual highlight that radiates regionally: overnight stays are booked far in advance, and the entire region prepares for the festival summer.
Three days of German rock festival at an altitude of 750 meters: From Thursday, July 30, to Sunday, August 2, 2026, the Jakob-Laur Airfield between Laichingen and Westerheim will once again transform into Southern Germany's largest German rock festival. With Kärbholz and Voxxclub as headliners on the main stage, complemented by the Rammstein tribute institution Stahlzeit.
On the festival stage, younger German rock bands like Schattenmann and Brennstoff alternate with established formations like Ampex, Wilde Jungs, and Artefuckt. Singer-songwriter Philipp Burger and JeanLuc bring calmer tones; ErnstFall completes the program.
