Summer Festival in the Baroque Kurpark

Every year in mid-July, the Grand Kurpark Festival with Illumination draws a diverse crowd to the Kurpark in Bad Mergentheim, one of Germany's most beautiful parks. Starting in the afternoon, three stages and over twenty food stalls are spread across the spacious grounds, before the grand illumination sets the scene in the evening.

Music on Three Stages

The Kurensemble Bad Mergentheim traditionally opens the afternoon at the music pavilion. Later, the youth music project JuMuKa takes over, followed in the evening by the famos.Quartett, which delights audiences with a mix of soul, pop, and timeless classics—ranging from Ray Charles and Zaz to Elvis Presley. In total, three stages provide entertainment throughout the park.

Culinary Delights and Children's Program

Over twenty stalls offer a culinary journey from regional delicacies to summer specialties. At the same time, a children's program invites younger guests to participate and explore throughout the park. A special experience for younger visitors: children between eight and twelve years old are invited to help set up and light the candles—meeting point is around 7:15 PM on the lawn between the Octogon and the Parkhotel.

Nearly 15,000 Candles — The Illumination

The highlight of the festival is the illumination after dark: nearly 15,000 colorful candles are distributed throughout the park, bathing paths, flower beds, and water features in a warm glow. The evening concludes around midnight with the colorfully lit water fountains at the music pavilion.

2026 Double Anniversary

2026 was a special year for Bad Mergentheim: 200 years ago—in 1826—the Karlsquelle spring was discovered (traditionally attributed to the shepherd Franz Gehring), laying the foundation for the future spa town; 100 years ago, in 1926, Mergentheim officially received the title of "Bad" (spa town). The Kurpark Festival was part of the anniversary celebrations.
