Spring Kick-off in the Upper Neckar Valley

Oberndorf am Neckar in the Rottweil district – a town with a tradition of firearms (Mauser), monastic history, and a town center that runs excitingly along the main street and market square. The Oberndorf Spring Festival, organized by the Handels- und Gewerbeverein Oberndorf a.N. e.V. (Oberndorf Trade and Commerce Association), has been the town's spring kick-off for years. You'll experience two days of town festival with wooden huts, live music, a regional barbecue competition, and an open Sunday shopping.

2nd Regional Barbecue Championship Neckartal

The highlight in 2026 is the 2nd Regional Barbecue Championship Neckartal on Saturday. Barbecue teams from the upper Neckar valley compete against each other in several disciplines, from classic steak to burger creations to grilled desserts. The audience stands directly at the competition booths, smells, comments, and can taste many of the dishes.

International Stalls and Acoustic Concert

Along the festival mile, clubs, businesses, and restaurateurs serve from Spanish, Turkish, Romanian, Italian, and Swabian stalls. You can switch between tapas, Lahmacun, Sarmale, pasta, and Maultaschen, complemented by a cocktail bar and beer fountain. On Saturday evening, the band Acoustic Breeze Project takes the stage from 7 PM with their acoustic pop-rock repertoire; an after-show party follows.

Open Sunday Shopping with Family Program

• 1 PM–6 PM: Town center shops open
• Children's Activities: Rally through the town center, bouncy castle, play stations, carousel
• Blue Light Mile: Police, Red Cross, THW (Federal Agency for Technical Relief), and fire department with a turntable ladder to see and touch
• Flea Markets: In the REWE parking lot and the tool area
• Retro Bus Shuttle: Free connection between two city districts

Oberndorf am Neckar — What to Discover Outside the Festival

If you have more time, you can visit the German Weapons Museum (Mauser collection in the former industrial buildings), explore the monastery district with the collegiate church, or plan a walk along the Neckar. Oberndorf is strategically located between the Black Forest and the Swabian Jura – the nearby Heimbachsee lake and Rottweil are also worthwhile detours.
