Weindorf in the historic Kurpark — Wines from Württemberg and Baden, Tauberschwarz rarity
The Taubertäler Weindorf is one of the most beautiful wine festivals in the southern Tauber Valley. For two days — Friday, August 7, and Saturday, August 8, 2026 — the Kurpark Bad Mergentheim transforms into an open wine village with gazebos, sales stands, live music, and culinary offerings. The organizer is the Kurverwaltung Bad Mergentheim, which organizes the festival as part of its year-round cultural program in the Kurpark.
Bad Mergentheim is located in the southern Tauber Valley on the border between the two major wine-growing regions of Württemberg and Baden. The Weindorf takes advantage of this geographical location and presents an exquisite wine selection from both regions:
The wines are served by the glass (Schoppen) — with explanations from the vintners directly at the stand. Particularly interesting for wine lovers who want to explore the spectrum of South German wine culture in one weekend.
On both days, various bands provide musical highlights — mostly regional cover, jazz, and Schlager bands, accompanying the wine with a relaxed summer program. The Kurpark Bad Mergentheim, with its tree-lined avenues, fountains, pavilions, and old trees, offers a charming backdrop that pleasantly distinguishes the Weindorf from festival tent events. You sit in the shade or under the open sky, enjoy the music from a band, and leisurely sample the region's wines.
2026 is a special year for Bad Mergentheim: the town celebrates 200 years of healing springs (discovered in 1826) and 100 years of spa status (granted in 1926). The Taubertäler Weindorf 2026 is part of this anniversary program and will be celebrated with particular festivity — you will experience an important historical year for Bad Mergentheim firsthand.
Bad Mergentheim (Main-Tauber district, district code 08128, approx. 24,000 inhabitants) is one of Baden-Württemberg's most important spa towns and the seat of the Deutschordensschloss (Teutonic Order Castle), where the Teutonic Order had its headquarters for over 270 years. The healing springs (Karls-, Wilhelms-, Albert-, Paulsquelle) provide mineral-rich water for patients' drinking cures. The Kurpark forms the green heart of the town — a classically designed park with water features, pavilions, and an atmospheric blend of relaxation and elegance.
On August 7 and 8, 2026, the Kurverwaltung Bad Mergentheim invites you to the Taubertäler Weindorf in the historic Kurpark. Wineries from the Württemberg and Baden growing regions present their selection — white and red wines served by the glass. Special attention is deserved by the Tauberschwarz rarity, an old grape variety cultivated only in the Tauber Valley.
Various bands provide musical highlights on both days. In 2026, the edition is also part of the anniversary program '200 Years of Healing Springs — 100 Years of Bad Mergentheim'.
