Cozy suburban Christmas market in Mörscher Park on the 1st Advent weekend with regional specialties and mulled wine
The Mörscher Weihnachtsmarkt is a classic suburban Christmas market, similar to those found in many districts of Frankenthal as a counter-program to the large city center Christmas market. Mörsch, formerly an independent municipality and now a district of Frankenthal with around 5,000 inhabitants, thus cultivates an important piece of club culture and neighborhood tradition.
Mörscher Park is the central green space of the district. Around a dozen wooden huts are set up for the Christmas market, decorated with fir green, fairy lights, and stars. In the center stands a large illuminated Christmas tree, and a living or carved wooden nativity scene is often integrated.
The organizers are local clubs such as the sports club, the singing society, the volunteer fire department, and the Catholic and Protestant church communities of Mörsch. They run the stalls offering mulled wine, children's punch, bratwurst, fries, waffles, cookies, homemade jams, and Advent wreaths. The proceeds benefit the youth work of the respective clubs.
The format is deliberately aimed at families and regular visitors from the district. A storytelling hour for children, occasional performances by the Mörscher children's choir, and the spontaneous visit of St. Nicholas with small gifts are among the recurring annual program items. Admission is free.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in November. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years.
The market marks the traditional start of the Advent season in the Mörsch district and is often combined with a walk to the Mörsch church.
