Summer exhibition of the Lubmin Artists' Round Table
The Lubmin Artists' Round Table is a group of artists active for years in the seaside resort of Lubmin, presenting their works three times a year in major shows: during the KUNST:OFFEN initiative on Pentecost, in the KUNSTvoll summer exhibition at the beginning of July, and in the winter exhibition during Advent. KUNSTvoll is the middle and longest of the three shows.
Paintings (watercolor, acrylic, oil), encaustic wax works (an old technique where beeswax is applied to cardboard), fishing nets typical of the Pomeranian coast, ceramics, patchwork works, poetry and texts, postcards and calendars with local motifs, as well as objects made from natural materials such as driftwood and beach finds are exhibited. The style ranges from realistic coastal painting to abstract acrylic compositions and experimental mixed-media works.
During opening hours, the artists themselves are often present, providing information about techniques and motifs and gladly accepting sales and commissions. The exhibition is free to enter – a low-threshold contact with the independent art scene on the Baltic Sea.
Lubmin in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district is a traditional seaside resort on the Greifswalder Bodden. The local art scene benefits from the special light of the Baltic Sea, the tradition of fishing nets, and active club and gallery work. The Artists' Round Table is part of this scene and shapes the cultural summer offerings of the seaside resort.
Five exhibition days showcase the spectrum of works by the artists of the Lubmin Artists' Round Table. The exhibition is set up in the Seebadzentrum, a central venue on the beach promenade. During opening hours, the artists are often present in person, explaining techniques such as encaustic wax painting or the knotting of traditional fishing nets, and are available for discussions. Works can be purchased directly. Exact opening hours and the vernissage date will be announced shortly before the show on the tourist information office's website.
